I’m Magdalena.

I’m a Sydney-based business owner, recipe writer, baker, home cook, wife and mother to six children.

Cabinet of Cookery began as a daily food blog five years ago. Since then, I’ve launched a bespoke baking business under the same name, with a focus on creating beautiful cakes and delicious desserts from scratch, to order.

I’m neither a classically trained chef nor a reality food show finalist. I’m a real home cook, with a passion for good food. I plan meals, source ingredients and prepare dishes for my family and friends almost every day. Though my professional background is in PR and marketing, I used to pore over cookbooks, experiment with recipes and attend cooking courses to wind down.

My training was informal, but hands-on and utterly delicious. Under the inspirational guidance of my grandparents, mother and aunts – all sensational home cooks – I learned the kitchen is the hub of the home. It is the gathering point; the place to nurture, nourish, soothe and celebrate. I was encouraged to use my senses when cooking, to try new recipes, to be brave and develop my own. Best of all, I was taught to value good food.
