My mother is back in Sydney. I really love it when she visits us from Perth and not only because she is such a dynamo in the kitchen and a wonderful home cooking partner. Mum also has a perpetually sunny disposition, nurturing manner and excellent sense of humour which results in a decent dose of daily laughter.

Despite the 3,500 kilometre journey from across the Nullarbor, mum always manages to arrive full of energy and smiling. She is clearly a connoisseur of air travel and actually enjoys the journey, unlike myself. I just want to reach my destination in the speediest and safest way possible.

This evening, mum made dinner – Appetising Aromatic Lamb Shanks as per the recipe posted on the 4th July – but she also added three deep orange carrots thrown in for a burst of colour and extra  vitamins. A side serve of steamed long grain rice and bunches of rich green broccolini competed the dinner menu. Once again the lamb shanks fell away from the bone with their tender texture and flavour, enhanced by the sweetly spiced ingredients, long oven bake and overall quality of the meat.

Although mum reached for multiple spoons, pots, bowls and cooking paraphernalia in the process of making this meal, the result was sublime. By the time my husband and I had tucked the kids into bed, mum had cleaned the kitchen to a standard a surgeon would be comfortable operating within. Ahhh! An early night at last.

I really look forward to feedback and support from readers of my food blog. If you have any questions, suggestions or comments you can send them to me in one of two ways:

1) Click on the RIGHT side of the page under the recipe on the words SEND ME AN EMAIL. Your feedback will go into a holding inbox which I can then read and publish where appropriate.

2) Or…Click on the LEFT side of the page on the words NO COMMENTS. A box will pop up and you can type your feedback in there. Then click on the drop down called COMMENT AS which is underneath the comments box. Select either NAME/URL or ANONYMOUS. Your feedback will once again go into a holding area which I can then read.
