Yesterday afternoon, my 12 year old daughter Jana baked these decadent chocolate brownies with only minimal assistance from her maternal grandmother. We have dubbed them Appreciation Brownies, because this is Jana’s way of thanking two of her aunties for the generous gifts they sent to all of my children recently.
If you are nervous about baking, unsure of your skills and break out in a sweat at the thought of turning on the oven, then this is certainly the recipe for you. If a 12 year old can manage to whip these up without fuss and with fantastic results, then so can a grown up – even a novice.
Look up the recipe which I originally published on the 24th May and have a go! Jana wasn’t able to find the dark chocolate containing 70 percent cocoa butter, so she improvised and instead incorporated 300 grams of Lindt chocolate with 58 percent cocoa butter. This gave the overall brownies a lighter colour, with a less intense but still delicious chocolaty flavour.
This is a great school holiday activity to do with your children. Best of all you can all enjoy the brownies which are even better eaten warm with a tall glass of creamy, cold milk.
