Although Spain’s chances of once again winning this year’s FIFA World Cup are over, their aromatic national dish – Paella – is always a winner in my household.

I like to serve a small side plate of fresh, diced Jalapeno chillies. These can be added by eager diners looking for a little extra “kick” to their steaming plate of saffron tinted calaspara rice, smoky chorizo, roasted capsicum and savoury chicken and plump prawns.

My children sat on the fort and swing set in our backyard, twirling their Tuna Pasta for lunch and enjoying the winter school holiday sunshine. An easy, tasty and healthy way to feed kids fast, which is jut as well because my brood stated asking what was for lunch as soon as the breakfast clutter had been cleared! Look up the recipe by typing “tuna” in the Cabinet of Cookery search engine posted on the 20th July 2013.

A slice of still-warm Buttery Fluffy Citrus Cake with vanilla glaze icing was a delicious home baked treat, that my mother served up to her grandchildren, giving them a boost following an afternoon of energetic outdoor games. This is one of those dependable recipes from The Australian Women’s Weekly “The Cake Stall” cookbook. I make it often and it always, always turns out perfectly. I guess that’s a result of the Weekly’s team of cooking gurus triple testing all of the recipes they publish. Most reassuring, especially for those who really enjoy their food…like me.
